Margaret Brandman

Composer,
Performer,
Music Educator,
Author and Arranger

Hello and welcome to my music education web site. This site has been going for a few years now and has had many thousands of visitors from dozens of different countries from Norway to Chile!

I've spent many hours creating and updating this website to provide musicians and music educators with helpful suggestions for improving their musical skills and some ideas for how to make learning music more enjoyable.

I'm very honoured to have been recently awarded the International Biographical Society's "International Woman Of The Year" for services to music. If you would like to view the certificate, click here.

I hope you enjoy browsing my site and looking at photos of special events I have attended. Please take the time to sign the guestbook before leaving, I'd love to hear from you.

Let's heal the world with music...

The BRANDMAN METHOD 'PLAYING MADE EASY' is a unique approach to music education which develops the aural, visual and kinesthetic aspects of music simultaneously, streamlining reading and playing techniques to obtain fast results.

The accelerated learning techniques foster an understanding of rhythm, pitch, keys and chords. Students are taught to read music by intervals, key and chord patterns are approached in a threefold manner - visual, aural and tactile, enabling the student to play pieces easily and effectively from their very early lessons.

For keyboard and piano students this includes the ability to transpose from the early days at the instrument.

The challenging part for teachers facing this repertoire revolution is finding appropriate pedagogical resources that focus on the “how- to” of contemporary and jazz pieces. Which books exactly, best explain the vagaries of modal scales, of suspended 4ths, of chord extensions and substitutions in a style that both teacher and student can understand and work on together at lessons?

The method makes playing fun and easy, the materials offer a variety of styles to keep the student stimulated and all combine to achieve very quick results.
